Digital Image of Boy and Cow
THE OLD BELL COW
WHEN I was but a boy, I loved so happily to roam
Through every nook and corner of the dear old country home;
At dewy morn to pasture I would drive the cows,and when
The shades of eventide drew on, I drove them home again.
And one among their number I remember very well,
It seems but yesterday I saw the cow that wore the bell;
She was not fairer than the rest, nor any finer breed,
Yet all the others followed her, wherever she might lead;
And in my youthful mind I used to wonder why and how
It was that all the cattle tagged the old bell-cow.
Strange years of shadow and of shine have passed away since then,
And now I mingle daily with the hosts of busy men.
And still I muse more earnestly than what I used to do,
For men, I find, are likewise quite peculiar creatures, too.
And some have natures made of gold, without a speck or flaw,
Creating images that inspire insightful dialogue among viewers is my objective. A drawing, painting, print or any art should awaken reminiscence of one's past or inquisitiveness of places and things of interest or beauty. The majesty of an eagle soaring high above mountain tops or the delicate beauty of a flower nourished by nature can inspire a feeling of knowing life is unfolding as it should. I was raised in Northeastern Pennsylvania where my family has lived for generations. A child of hard working parents (as most of us were) I worked various jobs and professions while earning a college degree. My interest in art began very young when my father became fascinated by nature photography. Watching my father work in his darkroom and...

When the last kids left home, they took my cow bell with them! I saw it sitting on their dining room table when I visited just last month! I love this photo digital art work!!!!! Absolutely beautiful, even down to the little flowers outside the barn. I have a pet heifer, who will be a cow next year. After she has her calf, in about two years, I'll have to either milk a couple of quarts or more each day, or get a second calf! Why, its a "family cow" - half dairy half meat, and she'll give too much milk for just one calf to empty. But, you only have to milk once a day in the beginning, and after a couple of months, can cut back to every other day or even just a couple of times a week for milk you want! All you ever wanted to know about a family cow! I love the poem, too! So true! Voted and Favorite! Thank you, Dave!!!
