Tulip Tree Flower -
The flowers of Liriodendron are much like those of Magnolia, and are generally regarded, along with buttercups (family Ranunculaceae) and water-lilies (Nymphaceae), to be among the most primitive flowers. This can be conceptualized by recognizing that flowers are basically modified branches and that flower parts --sepals, petals, stamens, and pistils --are modified leaves on those branches. The flowers that most resemble a branch with leaves are regarded as most primitive.
Creating images that inspire insightful dialogue among viewers is my objective. A drawing, painting, print or any art should awaken reminiscence of one's past or inquisitiveness of places and things of interest or beauty. The majesty of an eagle soaring high above mountain tops or the delicate beauty of a flower nourished by nature can inspire a feeling of knowing life is unfolding as it should. I was raised in Northeastern Pennsylvania where my family has lived for generations. A child of hard working parents (as most of us were) I worked various jobs and professions while earning a college degree. My interest in art began very young when my father became fascinated by nature photography. Watching my father work in his darkroom and...

This is a beautiful picture, David. Great color and macro. I remember when I was a little girl peeling each petal off one by one until I got to the center of it. Well done. Voted. Stacey Hall

Wow factor on this beauty, David, as we have a tulip tree, and it hasn't bloomed yet after about 3 years, so am I not doing something I should be doing? It is healthy, has exquisite leaves, but no floral blossoms, as of yet. This is just gorgeous! I love the floral, and hope our will eventually blossom like this! One of my fave macro shots of a floral. Welcome to our family of friends and artists here in the Wisconsin Flowers and Scenery group, as it is an honor to have you aboard! fave and vote

Thank you Randy for featuring this image in your great group Wisconsin Flowers and Scenery - I appreciate your great comments, vote and favorite - We have three of these trees - they were already on the property when we bought the house eight years ago - there were no flowers on the trees the first two years but they have produced flowers the past six years - I am told they may not flower the first 4 to 6 years - We do not do anything special for them - they just take care of themselves - : )
